Throughout her academic and professional career, Wejdan has gained valuable experience in various research settings.
As a Research Assistant at the Vibrational Imaging Lab at KAUST, she focused on assessing the effects of different inhibitors on cancer stem cells, demonstrating her commitment to understanding and combating cancer through innovative approaches.
She has also honed her research skills as a Research Trainee at prestigious institutions such as the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMARC) and the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC). At KAIMARC, she utilized Sanger Sequencing and NGS Sequencing to screen samples of SARS-CoV-2 and the Influenza Virus, contributing to the identification of new strains. At KFSH&RC, she collected blood samples from breast cancer and ovarian cancer patients, extracting and preparing cellular components for further experimentation and analysis.
In addition to her research endeavours, Wejdan has demonstrated her commitment to academic and professional engagement. Currently serving as the External Relations Officer for the KAUST BESE Forum, she actively fosters connections and collaborations within the scientific community.
